September & October Events & Festivals

September

  • The Farmers Market Bennett’s Creek Pasture Road returns for the year beginning every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. through October 30.
  • Suffolk Plein Air Festival returns to Suffolk September 9-13. Find the detailed schedule and more information here.
  • Head to Bridgeport Suffolk for C.A.Y. Fall Concert Nights. Enjoy an evening  of live outdoor music every other Friday beginning September 12 through October 24 from 6-9 p.m.
  • The annual Taste of Suffolk returns to downtown historic Suffolk Saturday, September 13. Bring the family for a unique foodie festival in addition to live music, contests, Fun Zone, children’s area, Beer Garden and an after-party until 8 p.m.
  • Catch the movie Lilo & Stitch (2002) during the Summer Film Series at the Suffolk Cultural Arts Center on September 21 at 2 p.m. Come a little early and meet your favorite characters before the movie along with other surprises!
  • The American Girl program featuring Lila Monetti returns to Riddick Folly House Museum on September 27. There will be 2 sittings: 10am and 11:30am. Space is limited (20 girls per sitting) and reservations are required. Donations welcome. Ages 6-12 are welcome; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call for reservations at 757.934.0822 or email riddicksfolly@verizon.net, beginning 14 days before the event.
  • Bring the family to experience a movie under the stars with Saturday Cinema featuring Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on September 27 at 5 p.m. at Suffolk’s Holland Ballfields.

October

  • Purchase your tickets for the traditional annual event, The Suffolk Peanut Fest Queen’s Banquet & Fashions. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, October 2 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Suffolk Riverfront.
  • The beloved Suffolk Peanut Fest Parade returns to downtown Suffolk on Saturday, October 4 at 10 a.m. Bring the family to watch floats, marching bands, community groups and more.
  • Groove to the live tunes of Masters of the Soul on Saturday, October 4 at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Enjoy your favorite musical hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s! Purchase tickets online.
  • Don’t miss the popular Suffolk Ruritan Club’s Shrimp Feast on Friday, October 10 from 3-7 p.m. Enjoy all you can eat shrimp, barbecue, drinks, live music and more. No tickets sold at door. Find more information online including locations where to purchase tickets ahead of time.
  • The beloved 47th Annual Suffolk Peanut Fest returns to Suffolk Executive Airport from October 9 through October 12. This four-day celebration offers live music, amusement rides and foodie fare, fireworks, peanut cup race, motorcycle rally, vendors, games and more.   • Friday Fright Night series returns to Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts October 10 with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, October 17 with Mama and October 24 with The Forest. All movie screenings are free and open to the public. Movie starts at 8 p.m.
  • Head to Bennett’s Creek Park for Saturday Cinema featuring Ghostbusters. The fun begins at 4:45 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:45 p.m.
  • Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts’ Outdoors at the Center returns October 17 with live music from Heather Helton. Enjoy specialty drink and food offerings and more.
  • Bring the family for a day filled with fun during the 32nd Annual Driver Days Fall Festival. This year’s event returns October 18 and October 19 in Driver Village. Families can enjoy live entertainment, feat foodie favorites, activities for children, crafters, vendors and a parade.
  • Catch the family-friendly movie, Haunted Mansion Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Free with RSVP. Come a little earlier for a Halloween party featuring gore, goop and treats! Register online.
  • Check out the 2025 Annual Juried Exhibit: DADA! at the Suffolk Art Gallery. This gallery is on display from October 24 – December 4.
  • Dress to impress in your most creative, creepy or hilarious costume and head to the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts on Saturday, October 25 for the Adult Halloween Monster Mash Ball. Enjoy themed cocktails, costume contest, hors d’oeuvres and more.
  • Bring your furry best friend to the 17th Annual Mutt Strut Festival at Bennett’s Creek Park on Sunday, October 26 from 12-4 p.m. This festival promises a fun filled day for the whole family including pet-related festivities and activities.
  • Join the Nansemond River Garden Club for An Evening with Holly Holden, an international designer, preservationist and Emmy-nominated PBS host as she presents her lecture Royal Rooms & Storied Walls. This event takes place Tuesday, October 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Purchase tickets online.
