    This invitational exhibit highlights the art of functionality and will be on display through October 18. From handmade textile works, to hanging ceramic birdfeeders and turned wooden vessels, all works on display serve a functional purpose. Artists include Tom Wessells, Sam Warren, Ed Francis, Phil Guilfoyle, Linda Bunch, Beth Netts, and Angelia Armstrong.

  2. Exhibit: "Beauty Beneath The Bark" by 2019 Tidewater Turners of Virginia

    Tidewater Turners is a non-profit organization, a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, located in Norfolk. The purpose of the organization is to promote the advancement of woodturning skills for members and other interested persons through an open exchange of knowledge, ideas and information. They also strive to increase public awareness of woodturning as a popular craft and as an art form. Exhibit sponsored by Davenport & Company.

  3. Historic Suffolk Narrated Bus Tour

    See Suffolk through the eyes of years gone by. Suffolk’s rich heritage dates back to the early 17th century, when Captain John Smith first encountered the Nansemond Indians on the Nansemond River. Even now, you can trace Suffolk’s legacy through our historic homes and neighborhoods, churches and Virginia Civil War Trails. Guided by a Suffolk historian, you meet the people and places that made Suffolk the city it is today. Highlights of this windshield tour include Cedar Hill Cemetery, Riddick’s Folly House Museum, Constant’s Wharf, College Court and Suffolk’s Historic Lakeside neighborhood.

  4. Cedar Hill Cemetery Stroll

    An official Virginia Civil War Trail site, Cedar Hill Cemetery has long been an attraction for history buffs and even walking groups. The Suffolk Division of Tourism offers a guided stroll through the pleasant 32-acre cemetery, rich in history and natural beauty. The 90-minute daytime tour will offer unique insights into Suffolk’s heritage as tour goers traverse the cedar-lined terrain dotted with timeworn headstones. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour. Call the Suffolk Visitor Center at 757.514.4130 to reserve your spot. Special rates are available for groups of 12 or more.

  5. Paint Night Paint Party

    Paint Night Paint Party is for novice to professional painters. Local artist Stephanie Gwaltney provides demonstrative instructions throughout the painting process to ensure your satisfaction and success! Participants will create their own fall-themed painting following along with Stephanie's demonstration. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks and alcohol-free beverages. Registration can be completed in person at the Suffolk Art Gallery or online through the Suffolk Parks and Recreation website. Pre-registration is required (by September 20) and covers the cost of all materials

  6. Movie in the Park at Whaleyville Recreation Center (RESCHEDULED)
