The Great Dismal Swamp is anything but dismal. The narrated Swamp Safari, one of Suffolk’s most popular attractions, fills up quickly. This four-hour tour is led by a biologist specializing is the unique habitat of the Great Dismal. Learn about the history, lore, vegetation and wildlife with this adventure that includes a brief walk to Lake Drummond. Sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. A small snack and beverage is provided. This tour is not recommended for very small children. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour. This year's city-wide scavenger hunt will have you racing all over town solving clues. Form your team and prepare for a day full of fun and adventure. Registration is strongly encouraged but not required. All ages welcome.

Suffolk’s rich heritage dates back to the early 17th century, when Captain John Smith first encountered the Nansemond Indians on the Nansemond River. Even now, you can trace Suffolk’s legacy through our historic homes and neighborhoods, churches and Virginia Civil War Trails. Guided by a Suffolk historian, you meet the people and places that made Suffolk the city it is today. Highlights of this windshield tour include Cedar Hill Cemetery, Riddick’s Folly House Museum, Constant’s Wharf, College Court and Suffolk’s Historic Lakeside neighborhood.

An official Virginia Civil War Trail site, Cedar Hill Cemetery has long been an attraction for history buffs and even walking groups. The Suffolk Division of Tourism offers a guided stroll through the pleasant 32-acre cemetery, rich in history and natural beauty. The 90-minute daytime tour will offer unique insights into Suffolk’s heritage as tour goers traverse the cedar-lined terrain dotted with timeworn headstones. The Drive-In Movie in the Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2019! Bennett's Creek Park will transform into a Drive In Movie Theater, complete with two screens. Stay comfy in your car or bring your lawn chairs and blankets and get the best seat in the park to watch the hilarious animated film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Two full concession areas will be available with food and treats. Pets are welcome and must be on a leash when outside of your vehicle. The park will open at 6pm for parking and fun activities for the children, to include games, crafts, and bounce houses at the Park and Play. The movie will start at approximately 8:15pm.
