    The Annual Juried Photograpy Exhibit returns to the Suffolk Art Gallery! Now in its 35th year, the Annual Juried Photography Exhibit at the Suffolk Art Gallery is the largest and longest running juried exhibition for photographic works in Hampton Roads. Join us at the Awards Opening Reception on Saturday, March 9, from 4-6pm, to celebrate the winning artists, and all photography artists on display.

  2. Great Dismal Swamp Safari

    April 7, 2019, 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM @ Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

    The Great Dismal Swamp is anything but dismal. The narrated Swamp Safari, one of Suffolk’s most popular attractions, fills up quickly. This four-hour tour is led by a biologist specializing is the unique habitat of the Great Dismal. Learn about the history, lore, vegetation and wildlife with this adventure that includes a brief walk to Lake Drummond. Sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. A small snack and beverage is provided. This tour is not recommended for very small children. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour.   3. Civil War Battlefields - Afternoon Tour

    April 7, 2019, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Departing from the Suffolk Visitor Center

    Join historian Kermit Hobbs as he leads a fascinating Civil War Battlefield Tour on Sunday, April 7, 2019. The Sunday afternoon tour will leave the Suffolk Visitor Center at 1pm and return at 4pm. This tour will include the Nansemond River Overlook, Fort Stevens, Fort Rosecrans, and Hill's Point Battery. This tour includes walking through woods and up and down hills. The cost is $18 per person for SNHS members, and $20 for non-members. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED
