Join the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society as they present "Off to War," featuring memorabilia and honors from various wars throughout history, including the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the American Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War. We must never forget the sacrifices that were made, and this exhibit honors those sacrifices and the people who made them. You do not want to miss this extensive exhibit!

This juried exhibition features the best artwork by Suffolk's 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Barbara Hennig-Loomis will be this year's juror. Hennig-Loomis’ education in the arts is varied, and continuing. She holds a degree in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her art history graduate studies as a Fulbright Fellow in Germany. She also completed a Master of Fine Art in Visual Studies. She has worked as a writer, editor, a museum administrator, teacher and illustrator. In addition to her studio work, Hennig-Loomis currently teaches at Tidewater Community College. There is $625 in awards offered, including $200 Best in Show (given in honor of Dana Adams), $150 First Place, $100 Second Place and $75 Third Place and Honorable Mentions. The exhibit is sponsored in part by a grant from the Suffolk Fine Arts Commission.

Sponsored by the Suffolk Art League, the 36th Annual Antique Show and Sale will feature approximately 40 antiques and collectibles dealers from the mid-Atlantic region. Crystal and clock repair will also be available. In addition, the Peanut Pals (Planter's Peanut collectors) will be displaying and selling items. Concession is available on site with BBQ, Brunswick Stew and more.

Preparations for our 2019 Annual Fundraiser are shining bright, so glamp up your attire and join us on Saturday, February 23, 2019 for an elegant evening of delicious French cuisine, libations and live music. We are excited to announce that joining us this year is Celebrity DJ WooWoo, from 94.9 The Point Radio, who will be our MC! The Gentlemen and Their Lady will electrify the stage as you dance the night away. Also, Roy Black with the Virginia Auction Company is graciously volunteering his time to shed some light on our new and exciting live auction items. To amp up our event even more, the Center will be adorned with lamp shades that will be beautifully hand decorated by creative individuals throughout our community.
