The work of renowned sculptors William and David Turner of the Eastern Shore of Virginia will be on exhibit at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts September 14th (opening reception) until October 21st. Both the BB&T and Norfolk Foundation galleries will house the amazing Turner creations in bronze as well as some of William Turner’s paintings. William Turner’s four published books will be available for purchase during the exhibit. The Turners, father and son, share a talent of capturing the beauty and motion of wildlife in bronze. To date the Turners have created more than 700 different limited edition bronzes and more than 100 large public commissions found throughout the U.S.

Kaya® is a daring, adventurous Nez Perce girl living in 1764. Her deep love of horses and respect for nature nourish her spirit, as she dreams of becoming a courageous leader for her people. She's ready to meet whatever the future brings! Kaya draws strength from her family, the legends her elders tell, and the bold warrior woman who is her hero. And she learns that the choices she makes affect all Nez Perce people. There will be 3 sittings: 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm. Space is limited and reservations are required. Donations welcome. An official Virginia Civil War Trail site, Cedar Hill Cemetery has long been an attraction for history buffs and even walking groups. The Suffolk Division of Tourism offers a guided stroll through the pleasant 32-acre cemetery, rich in history and natural beauty. The 90-minute daytime tour will offer unique insights into Suffolk’s heritage as tour goers traverse the cedar-lined terrain dotted with timeworn headstones. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour. Call the Suffolk Visitor Center at 757.514.4130 to reserve your spot. Special rates are available for groups of 12 or more.

A hair-raising encounter with the spirited side of Suffolk. Follow a costumed guide through the shadows of historic Main Street discovering stories, legends and "unexplained occurrences" by lantern light. Tales of unsolved mysteries and unresolved affairs abound throughout Suffolk's historically hip Ghost Walk. Reservations required.
