Tidewater Turners is a non-profit organization, a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, located in Norfolk. The purpose of the organization is to promote the advancement of woodturning skills for members and other interested persons through an open exchange of knowledge, ideas and information. An official Virginia Civil War Trail site, Cedar Hill Cemetery has long been an attraction for history buffs and even walking groups. The Suffolk Division of Tourism offers a guided stroll through the pleasant 32-acre cemetery, rich in history and natural beauty. The 90-minute daytime tour will offer unique insights into Suffolk’s heritage as tour goers traverse the cedar-lined terrain dotted with timeworn headstones. Reservations are required and cancellations are expected no less than 48 hours prior to scheduled tour. Call the Suffolk Visitor Center at 757.514.4130 to reserve your spot. Special rates are available for groups of 12 or more.

Plus, there will be direct sales vendors, baked goods, Brunswick stew, and door prize raffles! Free admission.
This is a fundraising event. All proceeds benefit organizations in our community.

This Juried Exhibition is open to all visual artists working in any medium. The exhibition typically features approximately 100 works of art by artists from the Hampton Roads region and beyond. Over $2,400 in awards will be given, including a $500 First Prize and the opportunity for a one-person exhibit at the Suffolk Art Gallery in 2020.

Bring your little goblins and ghouls to the Seaboard Station Railroad Museum on Saturday, October 26, 2019, for Touch a Truck, Train & Trick or Treat! The event begins at 11am and ends at 2pm, rain or shine. Enjoy food, candy, games, trucks, trains and more! Children can see, touch, and explore their favorite big trucks and vehicles. It is a one-day interactive event that also gives children the opportunity to meet the men and women that serve, protect and build our community. Vehicles on display include construction trucks, emergency vehicles, tractor trailers, and utility trucks. BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR COSTUMES AND BRING YOUR OWN TRICK-OR-TREAT BAGS! Tickets are $5 each or 4 for $15.

It's the Second Annual Haunted House at the Chuckatuck Library! Kids of all ages are welcome to join us, starting at 5pm, for a magical potion craft, fortune telling, and tour of the Halloween decorations. But be warned! At 6:30pm, the sun goes down, the lights go off, and we will do our best to scare you for real! Stick around after sunset for spooky ghost stories around a campfire. You do not need to be a library member to attend.

Suffolk’s rich heritage dates back to the early 17th century, when Captain John Smith first encountered the Nansemond Indians on the Nansemond River. Even now, you can trace Suffolk’s legacy through our historic homes and neighborhoods, churches and Virginia Civil War Trails. Guided by a Suffolk historian, you meet the people and places that made Suffolk the city it is today. Highlights of this windshield tour include Cedar Hill Cemetery, Riddick’s Folly House Museum, Constant’s Wharf, College Court and Suffolk’s Historic Lakeside neighborhood.
