Friday Night Frights at the Center


Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, is pleased to present the Third Annual Friday Night Frights Classic Horror Film Series. Scream will return to the big screen on Friday, October 15, 2021; The Birds is slated for Friday, October 22; and The Shining will conclude the series on Friday, October 29. All films will be shown in the Birdsong Theater on the second floor of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, beginning at 8pm. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at Concessions and a cash bar will be available.  

Scream (1996):
A year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl in small-town Woodsboro is terrorized by a cunning new killer, who targets the girl and her friends by using horror films as part of a deadly game. The all-star cast includes Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, and Rose McGowan. This film is rated R and has a running time of one 111 minutes. Watch the trailer here!  

The Birds (1963):
A wealthy San Francisco socialite pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people. The all-star cast includes Tippi Hedren, Jessica Tandy, Rod Taylor, Suzanne Pleshette, and Charles McGraw. This film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of one 119 minutes. Watch the trailer here!

The Shining (1982):
Writer and former teacher Jack Torrance agrees to be the caretaker of a hotel that has a long, violent past. When Jack slowly loses his grip on sanity due to the supernatural forces that inhabit the hotel, he becomes increasingly violent, placing his son Danny—who has psychic abilities known as "the shining"—and his wife Wendy in grave danger. The all-star cast includes Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd. This film is rated R and has a running time of one 146 minutes. Watch the trailer here!
