Suffolk Grand Illumination

The 2019 Holiday Season officially begins in Suffolk on Friday, November 22, with the Suffolk Grand Illumination Ceremony at Market Park in Downtown Suffolk. The event rings in the holidays with the park opening at 6pm. Watch the 32' tree light up when the switch is flipped at 6:15 p.m., illuminating Suffolk for the holiday season. Be there when Santa arrives in style (around 6:30 p.m.), and enjoy seasonal music courtesy of local choirs.  Be sure to bring along your camera to capture your children's smiling faces as they whisper their Christmas wishes to Santa Claus. Stick around to purchase tasty treats, as your children decorate their letter to Santa, watch puppet shows, and visit the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum. There will also be horse and carriage rides available for purchase!

All activities are open until 8:30pm. Parking will be available at the Suffolk Visitor Center at 524 N. Main Street and free shuttle service will run from the First Baptist Church and Godwin Courts parking lots beginning at 5:45pm. This event is produced by Suffolk Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Suffolk Tourism and Suffolk Media & Community Relations. Contact Emily Upton at 757.514.7267 for more information.
